NASHVILLE (September 7, 2024) – After a grueling road schedule to start the season, the Fisk University Lady Bulldog Volleyball Team enjoyed being in front of friends and family as they swept HBCU Athletic Conference foe Stillman College (1-7, 0-1 HBCUAC) and Brescia University (2-10) in tri-match action from the Henderson A. Johnson Arena.
Fisk (7-8, 1-0 HBCUAC) once again received a big lift from three transfers on their front wall. Sophomore Reagan Jones smashed a combined 23 kills on the day. Against Stillman, she swung at a .500 clip and added 15 digs on the receiving end. Belmont transfer Sydney Willis also showed her two-way ability, blocking seven balls against Stillman then she had 12 kills and two solo blocks against Brecia. Sophomore Laila Esters had a total of 19 kills and swung at a blitzing on the day. The Miles College transfer just missed a double-double against Stillman, when she had ten kills and nine digs.
Sophomore La'Niyah Lumpkin chipped in to support the front wall with 11 kills and eight blocks in both games, with six of her blocks coming against Brescia. Three-time HBCUAC Setter of the Week Trinity Britt once again quarterbacked the offense stupendously. She combined for 66 assists in the two games.
Fisk will go back on the road on Saturday to take on Mobile University and host UT Southern.
