Enderle, Jones Receive National Honors
Fisk volleyball coach Jessica Enderle is named Coach of the Year by AVCA, Reagan Jones earns NAIA, and AVCA All American honors.
The 2024 Fisk University Lady Bulldog volleyball team finished this season, winning 20 plus games for the second season in a row. Multiple players were named to the HBCU Athletic Conference's All Conference team. This week, the national honors were announced. Outside Hitter Reagan Jones was named to the NAIA All American Team, the first Fisk volleyball player to receive that honor since Cathy Bowman 1988.
"Reagan has been an absolute force for our program this season," said Fisk head coach Jessica Enderle. "Her work ethic, consistency, and drive to compete at the highest level has set her apart. As a sophomore, she continues to grow as both a player and a leader, pushing herself and her teammates to be better every day. I'm so proud of her accomplishments and can't wait to see what the future holds for her."
Jones recognition doesn't stop there. She was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Southeast All Region Team. The sophomore from Franklin, Tennessee is related to USA 1984 Volleyball Silver Medalist Rose Magers-Powell.
Jones' journey has not been easy or typical, but all the blood, sweat, tears, and smiles has made moments like this sweeter. Her parents have played an integral role in her success. They introduced her to volleyball at the age of two. Jones' mother, Jennette took it upon herself to learn photography. A lot of the action pictures on the Fisk Volleyball website and social media pages are hers. Her dad Rob stepped in on a road game that didn't have referees and worked the ladder to prevent the opposing team from forfeiting. He also didn't mind letting Fisk administration know if the stats were incorrect, not only for his daughter but for her teammates as well. Jones is grateful for having an engaged support system.
"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being All-American, not to mention a double All-American," said Jones. "To bring home not just one, but two All-American titles for Fisk and to represent something much bigger than myself has always been the goal. These awards are not just a reflection of me but of my amazing teammates, our amazing coaching staff, my family and friends. Most importantly how God has worked in my life through volleyball. To my teammates, you all have supported me more than you know this season and the love I have for this team is unmatched. To my coaches, thank you for taking a chance on me and bringing the best out of me. To my parents, thank you for never allowing me to give up on my dreams and for believing in me when I could not believe in myself. Thank you for always showing me up in more ways than one. I could not do this without you all."
Enderle was named the AVCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year, after being voted the conference Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons, which reflects the hard work her staff and players put in since the preseason. Enderle is is especially proud of the team- first approach from all that are involved.
"Receiving the AVCA NAIA Southeast Region Head Coach of the Year is an incredible honor and truly humbling. This recognition is not just about me; my staff, supporters, parents and most of all my players strive every day to bring their best to the court, pushing themselves to grow as individuals and as a collective unit. Their commitment to the process, to one another, and to this program inspires me to be a better coach and leader. I'm grateful to work with such an exceptional group of young women who trust the vision we've built and continuously raise the standard. This honor belongs to all of us, and I couldn't be prouder of what we've accomplished together."
Enderle and Jones will receive their AVCA awards at the AVCA convention on December 20, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky.
