Fisk University Lady Bulldogs Triumph Over Tougaloo College Bulldogs in Three Sets
Nashville, TN: In a thrilling Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) volleyball clash, the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs triumphed over the Tougaloo College Bulldogs in a resounding three-set victory (25-13, 25-11, 25-17). The match showcased both teams' incredible talent and teamwork, with each displaying moments of brilliance. However, the Lady Bulldogs from Fisk ultimately emerged as the dominant force on the court.
Fisk University Lady Bulldogs came out of the gate with an aggressive offense that set the tone for the match. The Lady Bulldogs collectively hit an impressive .343% as a team in the opening set.
The Lady Bulldogs of Fisk maintained their momentum in the second set, led by the exceptional serving of Freshman Setter Nebthet Re and Senior Libero Jadyn Brackins. Their combined efforts put tremendous pressure on the Tougaloo serve receive, disrupting their rhythm and preventing them from finding their stride.
The Tougaloo College Bulldogs showed signs of life in the third set, challenging the Fisk Lady Bulldog defense. Freshman Outside Hitter Berlynn Muldrow showcased her remarkable skills with nine kills, hitting an outstanding .438%. Alongside her, Junior, Opposite Aja Coffey, was instrumental, delivering eight kills with an impressive .333 hitting percentage. This offensive firepower was a challenge that the Tougaloo College Bulldogs struggled to contain. Nebthet Re's incredible performance saw her tally 20 assists, five aces, and nine digs throughout the match, while Jadyn Brackins was an undeniable defensive presence, accumulating 19 digs and two aces.
The Fisk Lady Bulldogs will move to an impressive 11-3 overall record in the GCAC conference standings and a 17-11 overall record. Tougaloo College sits at 1-11 in the conference and 2-21 overall.
The Fisk Lady Bulldogs are back in action at home on Saturday, October 21st, at 1:00 p.m. against GCAC opponent Rust College, who is currently 6-7 in GCAC conference play.
