Price and Fisk Gymnastics Reaches Historic Achievements

PHILADELPHIA – With the city of Philadelphia gearing up for the Super Bowl, the Fisk University Gymnastics Team put on a super performance of their own. In a remarkable display of athletic prowess and dedication, Morgan Price has etched her name in the annals of collegiate gymnastics history once again.
On her Uneven Bar rotation, Price became the first gymnast from a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to record a perfect score. This monumental achievement not only highlights her exceptional talent but also signifies a major milestone for HBCU athletics.
"Morgan's perfect score is a testament to her rigorous training, determination, and flawless execution," said Fisk head coach Corrinne Tarver. "Achieving a perfect score in gymnastics requires a combination of technical precision, artistic expression, and unwavering focus. I am extremely proud of her. She continues to set the bar for our team."
Price's heroics coincided with another significant milestone for Fisk Gymnastics. The team recorded their highest score in school history, an impressive 193.650. This achievement underscores the collective effort, skill, and spirit of the Bulldog team. Each member's dedication and hard work contributed to this record-breaking performance, setting a new standard for the program.
Flourishing on Floor
In addition to these outstanding performances, the Bulldogs excelled on the floor exercise, showcasing their depth and talent. Junior Liberty Mora kicked off the floor rotation with a solid score of 9.675. Despite a setback when Senior Kaylei McDonald had a fall and finished with an 8.7, the team rebounded quickly. Sophomore Ciniah Rosby posted an impressive 9.6, followed by Jada Reese, the floor MVP for the Bulldogs, who dazzled with her sky-high tumbling to score a 9.7.
Price once again showed her prowess by scoring a huge 9.8 on the floor, further solidifying her status as a key performer for the team. Freshman LaNiyah Montgomery made a memorable debut on the floor with a strong anchor performance, earning a 9.575 in her first meet of the season. These stellar performances contributed to the Bulldogs tying their season-high floor score of 48.350.
Vault 48.325
Jada Reese led off the vault rotation with an 8.825. Freshman phenom Kendall Guy followed that up, exploding with a 9.475 score. Junior Aliyah Reed-Hammon, an All-American on vault, impressed with a score of 9.625. Junior Allie Berkley followed with an even better performance, earning a 9.775. Rosby also scored a strong 9.6. Lastly, Price anchored the vault rotation with a huge 9.85, showcasing her remarkable consistency and skill. These performances resulted in a competitive vault score of 48.325 for the Bulldogs.
Bars 47.975
The Uneven Bars was where the Bulldogs flourished. Sophomore Sydney Smith, a dynamic bar worker, led off the bar rotation and landed a difficult double twist off the bars to score a 9.3. Berkley went next in the bar rotation and fought through the routine to get a 9.225. Senior Kiara Richmon soared to clinch her best routine of the season with a 9.425. Rosby followed that up with an impressive 9.575. Price rounded out the bar rotation and became the FIRST HBCU gymnast to score a PERFECT 10. Zyia Coleman anchored the routine with a season high of 9.675.
Mora Leads Beam Team to Fisk Best All Time Score
Senior Kaylei McDonald redeemed herself while leading off the beam rotation with a strong routine, sticking the landing to score her season high of 9.7. Berkley went second with a 9.575. Rosby continued her impressive day with a 9.75, her season high as well. Reed-Hammon dominated the beam with a 9.8, her season-high. Mora hit a beautiful routine with a season AND career high of a 9.9. Price anchors once again and scores a 9.85 on beam. The Beam Team makes program history with a total of 49.000, the highest event score in program history. Fisk Gymnastics reached their program history with team score of 193.650
