Philadelphia, Penn. (February 7, 2025) -The Fisk University Bulldog Gymnastic Team is heading to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, for a highly anticipated meet against a couple of Owls in the host Temple University Owls, and Southern Connecticut State University's Owls and for the second time this season the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.
With six competitions under their belt, the Bulldogs are midway through the season and gearing up for another strong performance as they continue to focus on improving their team scores and fine-tuning the details across all events. Philadephia fans will be gearing up all week for the meet, and watching their beloved Philadelphia Eagles play in the Super Bowl the following day. Fisk hopes to give a super performance of their own.
"Our team has been working incredibly hard, and we're excited to showcase our progress in Philadelphia," said head coach Corrinne Tarver. "Every meet is a steppingstone towards our ultimate goal, and I believe in the dedication and talent of every member of our squad."
Fisk is coming off a solid 191.375 performance at Rutgers University and are chasing their season-best score of 192.225, which they set at the Windy City Classic. As they approach the halfway mark, the goal is clear: progress across all four events and a continued push toward consistency.
Assistant coach Nuriyah Mack is optimistic, "Each meet is an opportunity for us to grow and fine-tune our routines. We've seen significant improvements, and I'm confident we'll continue to elevate our performances."
With each gymnast focusing on their individual strengths and the team working cohesively, Fisk is poised to make a statement at this weekend's meet. The anticipation is palpable as the team prepares to take the floor in Philadelphia, ready to show their grit, determination, and undeniable talent.
Vault: The vault lineup is expected to remain the same as the Bulldogs are in a good groove. Leading off will be newcomer Jada Reese, followed by Kendall Guy, Ciniah Rosby, Aliyah Reed-Hammon, Allie Berkley, and Morgan Price. The team is looking to make some upgrades on vault to help push past their season-high score of 48.825, posted at George Washington University. With solid performances and a few key upgrades, the Bulldogs hope to reach new heights.
Uneven Bars: On bars, the Bulldogs aim for another 6-for-6 performance, and the focus will be on improving the finer details of the routines. After a brief absence from injury, Sydney Smith will rejoin the lineup and lead off with a strong routine, followed by Zyia Coleman, Berkley, Kiara Richmon, Rosby, and Price. This lineup has a lot of potential, and the team is excited to continue building and improving in each competition.
Balance Beam: The Bulldogs have found their rhythm on the beam and hope to break into the 49+ club this weekend. Refining the finer details will be key to reaching that milestone. The lineup will feature senior Kaylei McDonald leading off, followed by Berkley, Rosby, Reed-Hammon, Liberty Mora, and Morgan Price. This group has been performing well, and with continued focus, the Bulldogs are poised for a standout performance.
Floor Exercise: The floor is where the Bulldogs showed flashes of brilliance at Rutgers University, and the goal is to build on that momentum. While there won't be significant changes to the floor lineup, there will be some upgrades to refine routines. The floor lineup will start with Mora, followed by McDonald, Ciniah Rosby, Jada Reese, Price, and Zyia Coleman. With this team's talent and energy, they're eager to show off their full potential this weekend.
The Bulldogs are relentless in their pursuit of perfection, continuously building on each practice and meet. As we enter the second half of the season, the team is focused on putting it all together as the lineups continue to solidify. With Nationals on the horizon, every meet is an opportunity to improve and grow.
The Bulldogs will compete on Saturday, February 8th, at 4:00 PM (CST) in McGonigle Hall. The competition will be televised on: ESPN+ Broadcast
