Gymnastics Takes Second in Windy City Classic

CHICAGO - The Fisk University Bulldog Gymnastics team delivered an unforgettable performance at the inaugural Windy City Invitational, achieving a season-high team score of 192.225, finishing second behind the Illinois State University Redbirds (195.650), and ahead of NCAA D3 the University of Wisconsin-Stout (187.000), and HBCU mate Wilberforce Univsersity (177.025).
Backed by an incredible fan base and a special showing from the Fisk Chicago Alumni Chapter, the team demonstrated their growth, resilience, and determination on the competition floor.
Event Highlights
Vault
The Bulldogs made history with a 48.475, marking the second-best vault score in program history. Three gymnasts led the way with stellar performances:
- Madison Benson: 9.800
- Allie Berkley: 9.800
- Morgan Price: 9.850
Uneven Bars
On bars, the team is making strides to refine their lineup, scoring a 47.725 and showing steady improvement as the season progresses.
Balance Beam
Beam continues to be a strong suit for the Bulldogs, as they posted a solid 48.125, showcasing precision and composure under pressure.
Floor Exercise
The Bulldogs dazzled the crowd on floor with exciting routines and depth in their lineup, earning a 48.350. Standout performances included:
- Jada Reese: 9.800
- Morgan Price: 9.850
Athlete Spotlight: Morgan Price
Morgan Price stepped up in a big way at Windy City, competing as the Bulldogs' only all-around competitor for the night. She delivered exceptional performances across all four events, earning an impressive 39.325 all-around score, and claimed her second all-around title of the season. Her event scores included:
- Vault: 9.850
- Uneven Bars: 9.850
- Balance Beam: 9.775
- Floor Exercise: 9.850
Building Momentum
The Bulldogs' season progression has been nothing short of inspiring. Over the past three meets, the team has demonstrated continuous improvement:
- 189.075 at Kent State
- 190.025 at the MLK Invitational
- 192.225 at the Windy City Invitational
Their upward trajectory speaks to the team's hard work, determination, and ability to rise to the challenge even with quick turnarounds between competitions.
What's Next
The Bulldogs are now enroute to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where they will take on the Western Michigan Broncos and the New Hampshire Wildcats. With momentum on their side, the team is eager to continue building on their success and showcasing their talents.
