TALLADEGA, Ala. (JANUARY 22, 2025) – For the first time since January 13, the Fisk University Lady Bulldog basketball team will be back in action. This time, they will travel to Alabama to take on Talladega College. Fisk is one and a half games behind Talladega for second place in the East Division on the HBCU Athletic Conference. This game is important for postseason seedings.
"We can't lose anymore conference games if we want to put ourselves in a good position," said Fisk head coach Victoria Crawford. "We dropped one at home last time out. This would be a way for us to get that one back. We will need to play well if we want to win."
Playing well was exactly what Lady Bulldog Jayla Bibbs did in the first matchup. Bibbs scored 21 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and dished out six assists in the 69-47 home win. The game was the first career start for freshman Teniya Williams, who scored 16 points.
Talladega has won four of their last five HBCUAC games. Guard Kameron Jones is averaging 17.3 points per game in those games. Two former Defensive Players of the Week Jayla Bibbs and A'Niya Young will have to use their length and athleticism to try to keep Jones at bay. Young was injured in the first matchup.

Talladega didn't have an answer for Bibbs in the first matchup. Bibbs has been nursing an upper body injury since early January. This will be the first game that she is not on the injury report.
Lady Dawgs at A Glance
Senior Leadership
The days of college players playing for four years at one school has become a loss art. The Fisk Women's Basketball Team has done a pretty good job of keeping players in school through their eligibility. With a mixture of returning players and transfers, Fisk started the season with nine seniors on their roster. The team heads into the second semester with seven.
Mia Robinson, Dee Scott and A'Niya Young are three holdovers from the highly decorated "Notorious Nine" recruiting class of 2021. They join Jayla Bibbs, Keeli Burton-Oliver, Courtney Lumpkins, and Ami McClow as the seven seniors.
Playing Big
The front court duo of Burton-Oliver and Scott have been a tough tandem in the paint for opponents. Burton-Oliver was named Newcomer of the Week two weeks ago. She scored 20 plus points in two of the three games that week. Scott has been force on the defensive end and has raised her scoring average to 10.2 points per game.
UP NEXT: The Bulldogs will go South Carolina to take on Voorhees College on Saturday.
