Lady Dawgs Travel to Title Town for HBCUAC Matchup
Tuscaloosa, Ala. (November 15, 2024) – The Fisk University Lady Bulldog basketball team notched their first win on Thursday against HBCU Athletic Conference for Oakwood University. On Saturday, they will continue their three-game swing in Alabama when they take on Stillman College (1 p.m. HBCU Plus).
Fisk (1-2, 1-0 HBCUAC) is 0-3 lifetime against Stillman (4-1, 1-0 HBCUAC). This is the first year that Stillman and Fisk are in the same conference. Both teams come into matchup 1-0 in conference play, both wins were on the road. Stillman defeated the conference defending champion Rust College 67-62. Jaida Minter led a balanced attack with 15 points.
"They look have a lot of players that can put the ball in basket," said Fisk head coach Victoria Crawford. "They beat Miles on their home court so we will need to play well. There is never an easy night in our conference. Stillman gives us yet another tough test."
Fisk had five players in double figures against Oakwood, led by Jayla Bibb's 21. Dee Scott added 15 and had 11 boards. Laila Eliotti manufactored a triple-double of 12 points, ten rebounds and 11 assists. Courtney Lumpkins added 11 points, and A'Niya Young scored ten.
KEY MATCHUP
Stillman's Raena Suggs comes into the game, third in the conference in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game. She scored 29 points in her team's blowout win over UT Southern. Bibbs, the HBCUAC Defensive Player of the Week should get the assignment of slowing down Suggs.
