Lady Dawgs Start Fast but Falls to Trevecca in Exhibition
Fisk gets outscored 25-8 in the second quarter in loss.
NASHVILLE (November 4, 2024) – Keeli Burton-Oliver led all scorers with 14 points, and Laila Eliotti added 12, going 4-of-9 from three-point range, but it was not enough as Trevecca Nazarene University defeated the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs 60-45 in exhibition play.
Fisk scored on a Courtney Lumpkins layup right off the tip and an Eliotti three to score the first five points of the contest. They held the lead, eventually finishing the quarter leading 15-10.
Trevecca scored the first seven points of the second quarter before a Burton-Oliver layup tied the score. After a conventional three-point play by Trevecca, Mya Robinson answered with a three-point shot to the game at 20. Trevecca finished the quarter on a 15-3 and never looked back.
"I told them that it didn't matter that it was an exhibition; it was a way to get better," said Fisk head coach Victoria Crawford. "I liked how we started and finished, but we can't get outscored like that in a quarter.
Burton-Oliver also was the game-leading rebounder with nine. Jayla Bibbs finished with ten points.
Fisk will now set its sights on Saturday. For their homecoming, they will play their home opener against the University of Mobile.
