COLUMBIA, Ky. – Maya Buckhanon and Zipporah Davis combined for 52 points, but it was not enough as the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (2-4) fell to the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders (6-2) 96-74 in non-conference action from Columbia, Kentucky.
The Lady Bulldogs started slow, falling behind 20-7 in the first quarter, with Buckhanon scoring all seven points. Fisk was plagued by eight turnovers in the quarter and was held to 12.5 percent shooting. LWU kept the pressure on in the second quarter, outscoring Fisk 26-18 to take a commanding 46-25 lead at the break.
A 9-0 Fisk run in the fourth quarter cut the deficit to 70-57, but the Lady Bulldogs could not get any closer. Fisk outrebounded LWU 58-45 but was outscored from the bench 57-10.
The Lady Bulldogs step into GCAC action this Thursday when they take on the two-time defending conference champion Rust College.
