Dawgs Host Talladega in Conference Doubleheader
Basketball teams hope home court will be the difference.
NASHVILLE (DECEMBER 4, 2024) – After a well needed break, the Fisk University basketball teams will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Talladega College in a doubleheader from Nashville. The Lady Bulldogs (2-4, 2-1 HBCUAC) is coming off a division home comeback win over Rust College on November 21. They will look to keep their home conference record clean, but it won't be easy against a feisty Talladega College Lady Tornado team (2-1, 1-0 HBCUAC)
"They are well-coached, and battle tested," said Lady Bulldog head coach Victoria Crawford. "Their schedule has been tough so they will be ready. We've had a long break so I hope we don't start slow like we did against Rust. Our crowd helped us get through it. We need them again. We can't afford to dig ourselves a hole too many times and comeback."
For the men's team (4-8, 2-1 HBCUAC), this will be their first time on the court since November 25 when they fell to Arkansas Baptist on the road. They also defeated Rust at home on November 21. They too struggled until they pulled away at the end. Talladega (7-2, 1-0 HBCUAC) will bring a similar challenge.
"They don't have one guy to key on, which makes it tough on us," said head coach Jeremiah Crutcher. "I like the way they share the ball and get their players in good positions to score. We will have to bring our A game tonight if we succeed. We need the crowd in it to give us energy. Just another tough test in this conference."
