NASHVILLE— Jayden Lockett scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds and got help from Tyon Thompson (13 points) and a monster game from Michael Ashley with a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds as the Fisk University Bulldogs defeated the Wiley University Wildcats 59-47 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play from Nashville.
"We played great defense, but I am concerned about how much we are turning the ball over," said Fisk Head Coach Kenny Anderson. "Holding a team under 50 is always the goal, but we have to put the ball in the basket. Jay Lock (Lockett) carried us early, and we got a great effort from Mike. Ty has been consistent all year. When those three play like that, we are tough to beat."
Demarious Pitts led Wiley with 21 points.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Philander Smith College, then travel to Alabama to take on Miles College on Sunday.
