NEW ORLEANS – The Big Easy is never easy for the Fisk and Thursday was another example as the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (16-7, 13-2 GCAC) defeated the Dillard University Lady Bleu Devils (12-12, 11-6 GCAC) 68-62 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play from New Orleans.

Maya Buckhanon scored her season-high 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to pace Fisk in the win. Jayla Bibbs pitched in 10 points and grabbed 12 boards. Down one at the half, Fisk started the third quarter scoring the first seven points, to take a 25-12 advantage in the quarter.

"We took their best shot and then played hard," said Fisk Head Coach Victoria Crawford. "Maya finally came to play today. I have been waiting for this effort from her. We are tough to beat when she is this dominant."

The win keeps the Lady Bulldogs in second place in the GCAC, and it gives them the season sweep over Dillard. They will finish their two-game trip to New Orleans on Saturday when they take on Southern University of New Orleans.
